5 Big Predictions for IPL 2022: Who Will Lift the Trophy?

IPL 2022 is here and the cricket fans just can’t stay calm. The predictions are already rife all around regarding which team is going to come out on top and which players are going to make their mark this season. So, on that note, let’s take a look at the top five predictions we have made for this season.

#1 Orange Cap: KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants)

Rahul has been in great form since the beginning of IPL 2019. In all this time, the Lucknow skipper has amassed 1,889 runs, an average of 57.25, and the strike rate of over 134.30. His reliability and consistency make him a good fit for the Orange Cap this year, though there are other strong contenders like Faf du Plessis, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

#2 Purple Cap: Shardul Thakur (Delhi Capitals)

The race for the Purple Cap is more difficult to predict than the Orange Cap. Players like Harshal Patel and Andrew Type have been unexpected winners of this award in the recent past.

Thakur took the third highest wickets back in 2021, and he is going to play a major role in his team’s win in both death overs and powerplay. Of course, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, and Harshal Patel are all strong contenders of the title as well.

#3 Bottom of the table: Gujarat Titans

Every team has great players. So, landing at the bottom does not make a team bad. Now, Gujarat Titans might find it hard to reach the top this time.

The problem with the team is that it has too many all-rounders and not too many specialists. The team has to really hope and pray that none of the players land up with injuries. Hardik Pandya is also new to the captaincy.

#4 The top four IPL teams in 2022

Though it is incredibly hard to pick the top four, here are the possible contenders (not in a specific order).

Rajasthan Royals: The team has really covered all their bases from the top order to the bowlers.

Chennai Super Kings: CSK has never failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs in each season of the tournament played in the country. So, it would be wrong to leave them out this time.

Delhi Capitals:

With Pant, Marsh, Warner, and Shaw, Delhi Capitals has the best top order in the tournament right now. They are all set to bring them A-game forward.

Punjab Kings:

The Kings went all out in the auction, and now they have the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, along with Mayank Agarwal.

#5 IPL 2022 Winner: Rajasthan Royals

2022 can be the year when the Royals finally win their second IPL trophy since 2008. This time, they have the perfect mix of experience and youth in the squad.

On top of that, they have the additional motivation of doing well in the fond memory of the late legend Shane Warne, who was the team’s skipper during their 2008 victory. The Royal certainly planned well, but it’s time to execute the plan.
