Firstly, you need to open the Avast website in your search engine. When you open the website, it will give you two options to download it for windows or mac. Then, you will click the option that your operating system fits into. Secondly, click on the download button that is in the middle of the webpage in green colour. Once you click the download option, you will be directed to a different page that Avast automatically chooses as the correct fit for your operating system.
Thirdly, give it at least 5 seconds to download. If it takes more than 30 seconds, cancel the download, and restart it again. The file is of the same nominal size, so it should not take more than 5 minutes to download. Next, go to your Downloads folder, where you will notice the Avast icon. Double click on it to open the Avast EXE file that is suitable for Windows operating system.
Then, a ‘Yes’ option will pop up on your screen, and you must click on that. Next, an ‘Install’ option will appear in green colour, so you should click on that too. Now, click on the ‘Continue’ button two times to install the antivirus. After the installation is done, it should open automatically. Give it some time, and if it does not open even after a minute, double click on the icon once again. You can also type Avast antivirus on the start menu, click on the icon from there, and click on the status option.
Now, it’s time to click on the scan option. This button will also be in green colour in the middle of the webpage. Once you click on it, Avast will begin scanning your computer for probable malware threats. Finally, the scan will complete itself, but it can take from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the condition of your system. There will be some follow-up steps that Avast will instruct you to complete once the scan is over.
